If NPR’s “World Café” and WAMU’s “Bluegrass Country” had a love child who grew up to be a band, it would be the Big Cheese. The father-daughter trio of native Virginians grew up with traditional American roots music, which they mix up with Klezmer, Irish music, jazz and rock to form their own individual, energetic and captivating sound. With a heady mishmash of country, pop, traditional music and even some soul, The Big Cheese’s current CD, “The Rumble in the Dairy Aisle,” keeps audiences in the D.C. metro area dancing. The Big Cheese’s haunts include Bangkok Blues in Falls Church, the venerable Tiffany Tavern in Alexandria and Brewer’s Alley in Frederick, Md.
